2017 – What a Year for AACWP!
Looking back at this year for AACWP, I'm amazed by all the accomplishments of this organization and it's members. It's awesome what we can all achieve together, so let me share with you some of what we did.
- We started the year off with a bang! Both literally and figuratively, with our 10 year anniversary Vendis, which included amazing fireworks to celebrate! Our diamond event was a huge hit and sell out again this year, with a surprise after party that everyone thoroughly enjoyed!
- Our education was top notch this year, especially since we moved to our new two hour meeting format to allow us to devote more time to speakers and topics for our members to soak in. Topics included Instagram Marketing, Managing Client Expectations, Hall of Fame Panel and Tenting 101. We were thrilled with our speakers and partners that worked with us to put together such educational events! Our members appreciated moving to our new schedule of some meetings as luncheons and others over dinner. It was great mixing it up!
- This year's Educate event was super engaging as we went through a Catering Bootcamp. This fabulous event included 4 caterers walking us through the behind the scenes of their world, from sales to execution.
- AACWP embraced technology this year, adding the ability for our members to attend virtually to our membership meetings AND for students to attend our training courses from afar. What an adventure it has been putting it together, and so wonderful to see it working well and members/students taking advantage of this opportunity!
- We finished the year out with 113 members strong! We added 33 members to our ranks over the year, we were thrilled to also recognize 4 members with their new Certified Wedding Planner status!
- We hosted three courses over the year, the last course executed by our new Training Course Director. We super appreciate the membership supporting this effort by participating as instructors and facilitators. We can't wait to see how this progresses in 2018!
- Celebrate was a fantastic progressive dinner this year, with AACWP members and their guests visiting the Crescent Club, Warwick Melrose and the Adolphus. We partied the night away at our final destination, including amazing treats and dancing to our hearts content.
- The board was supported by 8 fabulous committee members this year, which we are super thankful for!
- Finally, the board created a new board structure for 2018 to support our growing organization. We combined the Meetings and Events Chair with the Vendor Relations Chair, created the Fundraising Chair position and brought back our Treasurer position (previously performed by our Executive Director).
With so much accomplished in 2017, I can't wait to see what 2018 holds for this organization. Our Vendis is already in the works, with the date set for February 25th. Our next set of training courses will be held February 26th through March 1st. And our first Membership meeting will be March 20th. Keep your eyes out for announcements registration opens for each of these events. I hope to see you there!
