Our Expert: Christy Matthews
Christy Matthews is a Certified Wedding Planner and an ambassador and affiliate of the Gay Wedding Institute, a contributing member of the Human Rights Campaign, and a board member of PFLAG Ft.Worth. She is the owner of Christy Matthews Events, a boutique event planning company based in DFW.
Christy has planned weddings since 2008 in the San Francisco Bay Area and is now based in Dallas, Texas! Her work has been featured in C Magazine, Style Me Pretty, Refinery 29, Junebug Weddings, and 100 Layer Cake.

The Education: Gay Weddings 101
Some of the topics Christy will cover include:
- Language, Laws and the Issue of Assumptions: This presentation outlines the ways gay weddings are different than traditional, straight weddings, and offers strategies for thinking outside the typical wedding box.
- Marketing to Same-Sex Couples: Inclusivity, authenticity and modernizing your marketing strategy. This topic breaks down strategies for subtle and overt ways a company can tap into the LGBT client pool. Websites, print, and online advertising examples are included in this presentation.
- An Overview of the Emerging Same-Sex Wedding Market: This talk serves as an abbreviated version of the full Gay Wedding Institute certification class. Valuable data and statistics, marketing strategies and navigating the ‘New Normal’ are summarized.

Located in the heart of downtown Dallas and available for ceremonies and receptions, The Room on Main is dedicated to special events and has been polished so that it provides a beautiful backdrop for your clients’ events. It offers a large open ballroom with windows on three sides, hardwood floors, and a soft neutral color palette.
