If you follow the American Association of Certified Wedding Planners then you know our mission is to educate wedding planners and to promote ethical wedding planning practices, creating a community of the highest quality planners and vendors for our clients. And AACWP’s training course is a great way to begin your journey in becoming a certified wedding planner to support your career goals. Upon completing the course, trainees will be given a certificate of completion and are then eligible to apply for membership as a Trained Wedding Planner within the organization.

Once a member of AACWP, members have the opportunity to continue their education with us at quarterly education meetings as well as a variety of other occasions including education from other organizations. And this structured continued education is only one of the many benefits of training with and becoming a member of AACWP. Members also have access to mentorships with other planners who have many years of experience. The community experience with the organization is an immense advantage to our members as they have the chance to make friends with others in the industry and learn from each other and build strong relationships.
For many years AACWP has offered in-person courses in Dallas and Austin, TX with the option of joining virtually and interacting with the classmates and instructors if the attendee was located too far to come to the physical course. This still had limitations for some people though as not everyone could devote that amount of time in their schedule. The virtual seats still required the trainee to be present during the same hours as the regular students. This meant that anyone attending that course had to be available from Monday-Thursday from about 9:00am-5:00pm. For many people this was not possible with a demanding work schedule.
So we are excited to announce that we now have a fully online, individually-paced training course! The online course will not lose any of the detailed and personal expertise that is so integral to the in-person course. The format of the training follows the same progression and students still have access to the training course director for guidance. Some things have been adjusted to make more sense for the online trainee, but these students will still receive the highest level of training and the exact same certification as an in-person student.
Students of the online course will have a longer time frame for the training as we understand that the reason they are taking the course online could be because they do not have the time to devote to four eight hour days in a row for instruction. Instead, they will have eight weeks to go through all of the online training, meet virtually with the training course director for discussions as needed, complete homework, and take the final exam. The same support will be available for all online trainees to make sure that they still receive a personal experience and do not feel as if they are taking a “cookie cutter” course. AACWP strives to provide the same personal involvement for all trainees and members, regardless of distance or time available.
